Cece & Melinda with Raymi Productions are pleased to announce the first annual Mac & Cheese Fest to be held on Saturday, October 4 at the UIC Forum from 12-3 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana.
“Mac & Cheese Fest is a celebration of the dish! With roots dating back to the 14th

century, recipes that span continents to entice aficionados galore, the Festival is a time to explore every variety of this beloved food,” says Cece Gonzales, President of Cece & Melinda of Raymi Productions. The event will feature a mind-blowing variety of macaroni and cheese entrees, appetizers and sides served with craft beers, wine and soft drinks.

Mac & Cheese Fest will feature approximately 50 Chicago chefs featuring their versions of Mac and Cheese, inspired from cultures, family traditions and their restaurant’smenu. Chefs will be asked to use any kind of pasta with any type of cheese as the primary ingredients. One lucky chef, recognized by attendees and a panel of foodies, will take home “The Golden Noodle.” Some of the dishes to be served include; Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese, Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese, White Cheddar Mac & Cheese, Chipotle Truffle Chorizo Mac & Cheese to name a few!

Carnivale University Spring Quarter Continues

Next Up: Portuguese Wines 101

 

This May, the Carnivale University Spring Quarter will continue with Portuguese Wines 101.  Carnivale Sommelier Rebecca Green will lead this hands-on class featuring wines from Portugal on Wednesday, May 9 from 6:30 PM-8:30 PM.

 

Guests will visit wine stations from different regions of Portugal with information about the wines, regions and countries along with paired appetizers created by Executive Chef David Dworshak.  Featured wines will include Post Scriptum 2007, Quinta de Roriz Reserva Port 2003, Duorum Colheita 2008, Loios Vinho Branco 2009, Muxagat Vinho Branco 2009, and Passadouro Ruby Reserva Port NV.  Complete menu of pairings below.

In celebration of the Kentucky Derby, Chicago q is going back to its Southern roots by opening at 10:00 AM to show the televised race.  Derby fans can enjoy specials all day, including house Mint Juleps and from the bar; and Derby Pie, Deviled Egg Flights and Smoked Ham Sliders from the kitchen, created by Chef/Partner Lee Ann Whippen.

The Deviled Eggs Flights feature pork belly, horseradish dill, and mustard with fried caper fillings for $7.75; and the Apple Smoked Ham Biscuit Sliders with housemade mustard and ginger apricot chutney feature ham smoked in-house in Chicago q’s 1,000-pound Southern Pride smoker for  $11.75.
