ATTIC HOSTS SCREENING OF “BABY CRAZY” ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 27

ATTIC, the upper-level club at American Junkie, will host local Chicago filmmaker, Haroula Rose, as she debuts her film, “Baby Crazy”on Friday, December 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. This is the film’s Chicago debut after premiering to rave reviews at the Lone Star Film Fest this past November.

“Baby Crazy” is the story of Mike, played by Bradley Grant Smith, who undergoes a serious transformation when he wakes up after a bender and has a visitor in his house: a baby. However, he seems to be the only one who sees the baby. It is a surreal comedy that questions ideas of what’s real and what’s right. It is one chapter in a trilogy of short films that explore the theme of extraordinary things happening to ordinary people.

Rose is a local filmmaker and performer who graduated from the University of Chicago, was a Fulbright Fellow in Madrid, Spain and attended USC’s MFA program in film. She has produced a variety of films including Ryan Coogler’s “Fruitvale Station”and produced and performed in “No Love Song”, which premiered at the Sun Valley Film Festival in March. Rose is also an acclaimed musician, having released two EP’s, a full-length record and several singles and remixes.

Bradley Grant Smith, also a Chicago Native, is both an actor and musician. He has worked for The Steppenwolf Theatre, the Goodman Theatre and more. As a Musician, he works under the name Sad Brad Smith, and is most known for his original song, “Help Yourself,” from the Oscar nominated film, Up in the Air.

“We are happy to be supporting local up and coming Chicago artists,” said owner Brad Parker. “ATTIC will continue to develop programs to support the vision of artists like Haroula.”
