SUSHI EATING COMPETITION AT SUSHI +

Sushi + Rotary Sushi Bar, the western suburbs first “Kaiten” style sushi restaurant will host their first sushi eating competition Wednesday, November 6. Contestants will compete to see who can eat the most pieces of the restaurant’s California roll, made with crab meat, avocado, cucumber and sesame seeds and Spicy Crab roll made with crab meat and spicy mayo. The grand prize will be a $500 Sushi + gift card followed by a $250 gift card for second place and a $100 gift card for third place.

Customers can sign up on the restaurants Facebook page starting October 18. The restaurant will select 10 contestants at random to participate. The competition consists of two preliminary three minute rounds and one final three minute round. Two winners from each preliminary round will compete in the finals.

In addition to the final prizes, three $50 gift cards will be awarded for “Best Strategy”, “Most Spirited” and “Messiest Eater”. Spectators are welcome to cheer on the contestants and enjoy passed appetizers and samples of plum wine. All of the competitors will receive a $20 gift card. Registration will close on Oct. 28.

SUSHI + ROTARY SUSHI BAR ANNOUNCES NEW DAILY SPECIALS

Sushi + Rotary Sushi Bar, the western suburbs first “Kaiten” style sushi restaurant, announces two new daily specials. Starting Monday, September 23, dine in customers can receive one free plate for every four plates of a consistent color they choose off the rotary conveyor system. The only requisite of the complimentary plate is that it be the same color as the four previous. The special is valid during lunch hours only Monday through Friday.

Customers who want to pair their sushi with a glass of wine can take advantage of the restaurants $20 plate and wine deal. The deal includes five blue plates (valued at $3.50) and one glass (valued at $6-$7) of wine for only $20. The deal, which is available during lunch and dinner, cannot be combined with any other offers. Customers are also encouraged to sign up for Belly Rewards program to start earning points towards complimentary plates, beverages, special rolls and more.  Full menu available upon request.

SUSHI + OPENING IN AURORA – AUGUST 10

Sushi + Rotary Sushi Bar, the western suburbs first “Kaiten” style sushi restaurant, will host their grand opening ceremony Saturday, August 10. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a ribbon cutting by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. Japanese “Lion Dancers” will raise from the ground after the ribbon cutting ceremony and entertain the crowd, a traditional Japanese blessing for new businesses.

The Restaurant

The 3,000 square foot space is designed to be clean and contemporary with an Asian flare. In true “Kaiten” style, a refrigerated conveyor belt system delivers a variety of sushi rolls to every table and booth throughout the space, allowing customers to choose the rolls they want. The plates will be color coded to determine the price of the item, ranging from $1.25-$6.50. Customers can also order specialty rolls, small plates and drinks off of the Japanese inspired menu created by Chef AJ, formerly of OSAKA Japanese Restaurant. Collectively, Chef AJ and Owner Jason Chooi, bring over 10 years of dedicated restaurant experience to Sushi +. Chooi, who originates from Malaysia, has over a decade of operations experience with a specialty in delivering a hospitable service experience to his guests.

Menu

The menu features traditional Japanese fare with a few unique spins including Crispy Tacos, Crazy Jalapeno, Sushi Pizza and “ToGo Box Sets” for sushi lovers in a hurry. While the beginner and specialty sushi rolls are the main feature of the menu, the restaurant will also offer hot and cold small plates as well as Bento Boxes. Menu highlights include Adventure Sushi Pizza, $5.50, crispy rice topped with hirame, avocado, mango, onion, cilantro, mayo, tomato and cheese, Diablo Roll, $6.50, shrimp tempura, spicy tako, spicy tuna, avocado, mango, scallions and tobiko, and Mochi Ice Cream, $3.50.

   

In addition, Sushi + will offer a selection of beer, wine, and both hot and cold Sake.
