THE GRID LAUNCHES BRUNCH MENU AT “SAVOR THE SEASON”

The Grid will host “Savor the Season,” an event celebrating the launch of their new brunch menu. On December 8th from 10am-2pm, the River North hotspot will team up with some of Chicago’s hottest boutiques and designers to give guests the opportunity to shop for the holidays after they eat and drink.

The Grid’s newly conceived brunch menu will be available in the upstairs restaurant and offer packages including one brunch entrée and one breakfast cocktail for $15 or one brunch entrée and unlimited breakfast cocktails for $25. Featured brunch items include Stuffed French Toast with pannetone, carbonated blackberry, Philly cheese, rum maple syrup and chocolate anglaise and Eggs in Purgatory with poached eggs in diablo tomato sauce, chupacabra sausage and goat cheese and the Breakfast Smoothie with berries, banana, Greek yogurt, kale, B12, protein powder and Pedialyte. The Grid will also have a Build Your Own Mimosa Bar with a selection of 8 juices as mixers (cranberry, pineapple, grapefruit, orange, guava, mango, peach, pomegranate) as well as a Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar sponsored by Absolut to introduce the city to the new menu.

Additionally, Chicago-area boutiques and designers including Haberdash, Henry and Belle, Arpentry, Von Z,  Low Key Sharp, Veruca Salt, Bevello, Comfort Me and Sir and Madame will have items for sale in the Grid Lounge below. THE GRID PRESENTS HALF BAKED: A PIZZA SERIES

The Grid announces the launch of Half Baked: A Pizza Series featuring Chefs from Around the City’s GRID. Each chosen chef will guest host an evening at the restaurant and create their own pizzas that highlight the cuisine of their choice. Visiting chefs will use the Grid’s the new wood-fired pizza oven, which has already been a huge hit for the restaurant, on the second Monday of each month

The series will launch on Monday, November 11 with Chef Chris Macchia, the Executive Chef at The Florentine located in the JW Marriott. Chef Macchia will be serving up an Antipasti and 2 different pizzas from the pizza oven. His menu includes: Stuffed Poiveron Peppers with spicy boar sausage, tomini, tomato and mint; Brussels Sprout pizza with taleggio, pancetta, butternut squash, fried egg and black truffle and a Tuna Conserva pizza with fiore di latte, capers, tomato, gaeta olives, red onion and marjoram.

Next on the line-up for Half Baked will be Chef Mark Steuer, Executive Chef at Carriage House and The Bedford, who will join The Grid on Monday, December 9. Chef Steuer will use the oven to create a Braised short rib pizza with buttermilk blue cheese, caramelized red onion, fried Brussels sprouts and spicy cornbread crumbs.

The Grid, located in River North, houses a Mugnaini model 160 x 140 AOS wood-fired oven. The 19 ½ square foot cooking chamber allows the chefs to create up to 200 12″ pizzas an hour. More dates and chefs will be announced for 2014.

THE GRID ANNOUNCES NEW BRUNCH AND LUNCH MENUS

The Grid is pleased to announce their new weekend brunch and weekday lunch service beginning Monday, October 21. Both menus will feature the restaurant’s elevated tavern fare.

Weekend brunch, served from 10:30 am-3 pm, has something for everyone. In addition to traditional brunch items The Grid offers a Build Your Own Mimosa Bar with a selection of 8 juices as mixers (cranberry, pineapple, grapefruit, orange, guava, mango, peach, pomegranate) and a Chicago Style Bloody Mary with a house-made mix, full size Vienna beef hot dog with poppy seed bun, full size pickle spear, sport pepper, cocktail onion and cherry tomato. Highlights from the brunch menu include Heirloom Apple French Toast; Fried Kale and Eggs and Bacon & Egg Risotto.

The full dinner menu, created by Chef Dirk Flanigan, will be available during the weekday for lunch service. The refined menu features an array of sharable plates, full size entrees and flatbreads from the new wood-burning pizza oven. Highlights include Spicy Green Curry Mussels; Build Your Own Slider Board with Stewed Jamaican Chicken, fried plantain and papaya sauce; Spicy lobster flatbread and a pork steak with pork Ragout and root puree. Brunch menu items below. THE GRID ANNOUNCES NEW RESTAURANT CONCEPT IN FORMER BAUME & BRIX SPACE

The Grid is pleased to announce their new restaurant concept which will open in the former Baume & Brix space on Friday, September 27. The new restaurant will also go by the name The Grid, while the current Grid space will be known as The Grid Lounge.

“We wanted to create a space that was approachable in its aesthetic and with its menu” said Jeff Krough, Principal. “The new menu and remodel will be a great addition to the River North neighborhood.”

Chef Dirk Flanigan, formerly of Henri and The Gage, serves as the Opening Chef and has created a refined menu which complements the upscale sports bar atmosphere. The newly conceived menu features an array of sharable plates, full size entrees and flatbreads from the new wood-burning pizza oven. Highlights include Spicy Green Curry Mussels; a Build Your Own Slider Board with Pulled pork shoulder, Pickles and Slaw; House made pork and lamb sausage flatbread with fresh mozzarella and oregano and a Roasted Swordfish with olive oil, rosemary, caper and fennel salad.

“We are honored to have our good friend, Dirk, help us create the menu that can be enjoyed by sports lovers, foodies, couples or just a group looking for a fun night out,” said Steve Tavoso, Principal. “It was really our intention to have a neighborhood spot with good food and great energy.”

The Grid Lounge, located downstairs, will serve a modified version of the restaurant’s menu as well as a selection of signature cocktails. The Lounge also features ventless fireplaces, big screen TVs and a full bar making it the perfect destination to watch a game and enjoy a bite with friends.
